The Pause
Definition
The least you need to know
The Pause is the first Visionary-specific tool in the Exceptional Visionary Leader's Toolkit: you deliberately hold a new idea for a short time before sharing it, rather than firing it at the first person in the room. It serves two purposes. When a Visionary produces great idea after great idea, the team learns to discount every one and tunes out, so waiting protects your credibility. It also tests the idea, showing whether your commitment was real or just the rush of the moment.
