The Maverick

Definition

The least you need to know

The Maverick is the dark side of the Operator leadership style, the hard-charging doer whose drive tips from indispensable to obstructive. Picture an Operator on steroids who wants nothing to do with systems, process, memos, or meetings: "leave me alone I have stuff to do". Prized in the early days, when their effort was the business model, the Maverick becomes a blocker once the organization grows complex enough to need the very structure they refuse to accept.
