Horizon pollution is what happens when a meeting set to one planning horizon gets contaminated by issues that belong to a different, usually shorter-term, horizon, like a last-week problem raised in an annual strategy session. The intruding item is not wrong, it is just in the wrong room, and it distorts the whole discussion. It is a primary reason teams keep circling back to issues they thought were settled. The fix is to redirect the item to the meeting where it belongs, so each horizon keeps its integrity.
