The Artisan Trap is what happens when a founder can play both the Visionary and the Operator roles, so they do both alone instead of splitting them across two people. The organization then runs one mode at a time: sell, then make, then sell, then make, in a cycle that never grows larger. The escape is structural: keep one role, usually the Visionary, and find someone else to do the other so selling and delivering happen in parallel.
