Empowerment

Definition

The least you need to know

Empowerment is the fifth Growth Imperative on the Scalability Matrix, sitting between Alignment and Ownership and Self-Accountability. It is the ability of an organization to make, implement, monitor, and adjust high-quality decisions at the appropriate level throughout the enterprise, which is what gives the company nimbleness and flexibility at scale. It asks people to hand genuine authority to others, and the sequence matters: empower before people are aligned and you scatter energy everywhere; get it right and it becomes the multiplier that spreads good decision-making without burning out your folks.
